Samsung recently attended MediaTek’s launch event for the Dimensity 8450, a powerful new chipset, hinting that it could power some of their upcoming Galaxy phones. This chip is designed for high-end performance, offering strong graphics and better camera features compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 8400. It’s built with all big CPU cores, making it 30% faster than similar chips, and includes AI smarts for tasks like photo editing and gaming.

The Dimensity 8450 also supports fast 5G speeds, vivid WQHD+ displays with smooth 144Hz refresh rates, and dual-screen setups. Its gaming boosts come from the Mali-G720 GPU and HyperEngine MAGT 3.0, while the NPU 880 chip enhances AI-driven features like improved video recording. OPPO’s Reno 14 Pro will be the first phone to use this chip, but Samsung’s presence at the event suggests they’re considering it for devices where their Exynos chips might not fit.

Samsung already uses MediaTek chips in some budget and mid-range phones, like the Galaxy A16 5G, and even in premium tablets like the Galaxy Tab S11. While it’s unclear which Galaxy phones might get the Dimensity 8450, it could be a great fit for models needing a balance of power and efficiency. Fans are excited to see how this chip could enhance Samsung’s next lineup.
