Samsung is working on its next big software update, One UI 8, for the Galaxy A55 5G. This update is based on Android 16 and is now being tested on this mid-range phone. A recent Geekbench listing, spotted by Alfaturk, shows the Galaxy A55 (model SM-A556E) running an early version of One UI 8, scoring 1150 in single-core and 3417 in multi-core tests.

Since the software is still in development, these scores might improve, promising a smoother experience for users. The Galaxy A55, launched in March 2024 with Android 14, already received One UI 7 with Android 15. The Android 16 update will be its second major upgrade, and Samsung plans to provide two more big updates in the future.

This shows their commitment to keeping mid-range devices up to date. One UI 8 is expected to bring small but meaningful changes, like a refreshed interface and updated apps, to make Galaxy devices feel more connected and user-friendly.

Samsung is moving fast with this update, as new foldable phones launching on July 9, 2025, will come with One UI 8 pre-installed. The Galaxy A55’s testing phase suggests Samsung is ensuring even mid-range phones get the latest features soon. Stay tuned for more updates as the stable version nears.
