Samsung’s One UI 8 adds a fun photo effect, but is it worth it?

Samsung’s One UI 8 is getting closer to its official release, and a new feature called Dynamic Effect has been spotted in the Samsung Gallery app. Found in a stable internal build, this tool lets users add a playful 3D-like motion to still photos, similar to Google Pixel’s Cinematic Wallpapers.
It takes a regular 2D image of a person or pet and gives it a slight animated effect, making it pop with a subtle 3D look. The feature is easy to use: select a photo in the Gallery app, apply Dynamic Effect, and watch your image come to life with gentle movement. It’s a creative way to make your photos stand out, especially for lock screens or sharing with friends.
However, some might wonder if it’s just a gimmick. While it adds a fun touch, it doesn’t seem to offer much practical value beyond making images look lively. Compared to other One UI 8 updates, like color-changing wallpapers or improved security, Dynamic Effect feels more like a small, flashy addition.
Samsung is clearly experimenting with ways to make its software more engaging, and this feature could appeal to users who love customizing their devices. Still, it’s hard to say if it’ll be a game-changer or just a passing trend. What do you think—does this photo effect excite you, or is it just extra fluff? Share your thoughts.

Samsung to start One UI 8 Watch beta for Galaxy Watch 6 Classic soon

Samsung is getting ready to roll out the One UI 8 Watch Beta for the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. This update, built on Wear OS 6, will bring new features to enhance the smartwatch experience. A recent post on X by @Alfaturk16 spotted a test build, hinting that the beta program might launch soon in the US and South Korea.
The One UI 8 Watch Beta will let Galaxy Watch 6 Classic users try out new tools like better health tracking, smoother animations, and a fresher design. Features such as Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, and Running Coach are expected, though some may be limited to newer models.
The beta is likely to start with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, with the Watch 6 series joining shortly after. To join, users can sign up through the Samsung Members app once the program goes live. Samsung often limits beta programs to specific countries at first, so it’s unclear if other regions will be included later.
The stable version of One UI 8 Watch will debut with the Galaxy Watch 8 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025, in New York. This update shows Samsung’s focus on improving its smartwatches with better performance and new health features. Stay tuned for more details as the beta nears!

New trade deal helps Samsung keep phone prices steady

A recent trade agreement between the United States and Vietnam has brought good news for Samsung’s mobile phone business. The company makes about 60% of its 220 million phones each year in Vietnam, with most shipped to the U.S., where Samsung holds a 20% share of the smartphone market.
Earlier, a steep 46% tariff proposed by President Donald Trump threatened to raise costs, which could have forced Samsung to increase phone prices or lose ground to competitors like Apple. Thankfully, the new deal cuts the tariff to 20%, offering temporary relief.
This means Samsung can likely keep Galaxy phone prices stable for now, avoiding major price hikes that would hit U.S. customers. “This is a big win for both countries,” Trump shared on Truth Social after talks with Vietnam’s leader, To Lam.
Industry experts agree, with one saying, “The 20% tariff is much better than expected.”However, challenges remain. The U.S. also set a 40% tariff on goods shipped through Vietnam from other countries, which could affect Samsung’s supply chain.
To prepare, Samsung shipped its Galaxy S25 series to the U.S. early and may shift production of future phones, like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, to countries with lower tariffs, such as India. While this deal softens the blow, potential future tariffs on specific items like smartphones or chips could still pose risks for Samsung and its customers.
